We call obsessive gambling the "hidden illness" because contrary to other addictions, there is no "alcohol breath" no "red eyes" or any other easily visible signs that allow to notice that a person has a gambling problem. It is a state that is characterized by the imperative need to do an activity, or consume a substance and by the necessity to increase the frequency or the dose in order to maintain its effect and to avoid the state of withdrawal (uneasiness, anxiety).
